We are so excited that we do our Move-In before anyone else on campus. And that means that we get to enjoy several more days of fun and feeling at home on campus than any other student housing at the University of Illinois!
Welcome Week at Newman Hall begins Saturday, August 17, and continues through Thursday, August 22.
Each year, Newman Hall SPARK! Presents an amazing lineup of events, tours, and programs to help welcome you home, meet new friends, get to know campus, and get ready for a fantastic year ahead! There are dozens of events, with something for absolutely everyone from games and competitions to arts, socials, and bonfires.
Each day during Welcome Week you’ll find great events all day long like:
- Campus and downtown tours, and a chance to walk your class schedule so you'll know where to go on the first day of classes
- Fantastic social events like Bonfires, the GLOW Party, Bowling at the Union, and Mocktails Under the Lights,
- Volleyball at The Yard, 3-on-3 Basketball, Kickball Tournament, Table Tennis and more,
- Floor dinners and contests to get to know your RA and floormates,
- Nightly Speed-Friending events, bonfires, and game and movie nights
- Hall-wide tournaments, games, and competitions like the Capture the Flag and Newman Olympics

It's your first full day on campus! Start the day with a campus run or walk, then join us as we play kickball on the Quad, race in a MarioKart Tournament, meet some new people at Speed Friending, and so much more!

Get ready for a great day of exploring all that campus has to offer. Start the day with a campus Photo Scavenger Hunt, then come decorate cookies then head to Illini Union for Bowling. At night, get ready for the famous Newman Hall GLOW PARTY! And that's not all!

Start the day off with a stroll to new Campus spots, or join the running club for a quick campus jog. Then we'll help you walk your class schedule. Bring some life to your new room at the Paint & Plant event or get competitive in the 3-on-3 basketball tournament. But save some energy to battle it out at the Newman Hall Olympics!

Hang out with Hammocks at the Arboretum, then after lunch enjoy FroYo on the Quad. In the afternoon, join the Catholic Illini Missionaries for a game of Ultimate Frisbee. After dinner get HYPE for the annual North vs. South Capture the Flag battle!

We're closing out Welcome Week with the Newman Hall Welcome BASH at The Yard! Show off your Newman Hall Spirit at Tie-Dye & Tote Bags on the Terrace or join the fun at Table Tennis Tournament or BINGO. The evening ends with the campus-hosted Sights & Sounds and Outdoor Concert events!
